SELVA VIVA

Solidarity  boat

The SELVA VIVA (the Alive Forest in Spanish) is a traditional Brazilian wooden boat. Constructed in the popular Belen’s neighborhood in Iquitos in 2007-2008 with the support of the Audemars-Piguet foundation (Switzerland) and piloted by an experimented Peruvian crew, it spends the rest of the year working on medical and biodiversity’s protection’s missions under the aegis of the French Peruvian development NGO LATITUD SUR.

Its design makes it an open boat, familial, perfectly adapted to a family or a small group journey (10 passengers maximum). Its crew is made up of 7 members, who will give you special attentions. The meals are diversified: you will never eat twice the same food during the cruise. Our Chef will be proud to make you discover the traditional Peruvian food, and will adapt it to everyone’s necessities (Diet, allergy, vegetarian…). Fresh fruit juices and purified water will be available at will on board. You will be settled in one of the simple, double or matrimonial cabins. Every night will be spent aboard, unless you prefer sleeping one night under a tent, in the middle of the jungle…

The cruise is all inclusive (apart from alcoholic beverages, sodas, personal purchases and possible tips) from your arrival at the airport until your departure from Iquitos (apart from possible additional night and meal in the city). Serge, our English speaking guide and boat administrator will accompany you during the overall journey, and you will decide with him on the activities you want to do, fixing the program to your desires.

The objective of this authentic journey is to make you live a unique experience, in total safety, discovering the great biodiversity of the Amazonian rainforest, one of the richest fauna and flora in the world. Latitud Sur’s principle is to travel without excessive consumption, with comfort but without inappropriate luxury. The aim is to leave the beaten touristic tracks, meeting strong identity people, sharing with you the autochthons culture subtlety.

This cruise is organized by the French-Peruvian NGO Latitud Sur, and all its benefits will be used to set up or make durable developing projects with local communities in the Loreto region, projects you will get to know during your stay. A responsible travel, beyond the classical criterions of fair-tourism, giving rise to a reflection about the present environmental and indigenous problematic.
