ADVENTURE AMAZON CRUISE

Discover the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, the most important Peruvian national reserve, with its 2 billions of hectares. Reputed to be one of the richest biodiversity zone of the world, 250 fish species, 130 different mammals, 450 types of birds and 250 reptiles and amphibians at least can be found  in its luxuriant vegetation and its waters of different colors! An Amazonian condensation for all the nature’s lovers…

 Program

 

Day 1:   Reception at the airport no later than noon and transfer to Nauta onto the M/F Selva Viva in a taxi or a private minibus. Cruise departure sailing the Marañon River up to Nauta Caño, and first contact with the Amazonian’s rainforest. Stop in a wild site and then night excursions on the Selva Viva small adjoining boat to discover caimans. Dinner and night on board, in a wild site.

 

Day 2:      Breakfast on board followed by an excursion with the adjoining boat to visit the Nauta Caño Ornithological Reserve reputed for its various birds and iguanas. Back to the boat for the lunch. Continuation of the cruise sailing the Maranon River up to the village of Solterito. Dinner and night on board, near the village.

 

Day 3:   Breakfast on board and then visit of the Indian village of Solterito, especially of its gardens and giant water lilies; people from the village will be our guides. Lunch on the sundeck of the boat sailing up the Marañon River. Dinner and night on board, at the Samiria River’s embouchure, renowned for the presence of a lot of pink dolphins.

 

Day 4:   Breakfast and enter in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Excursion by canoe with the Indians across the Yanayacu black waters, to appreciate closely the incredible biodiversity of the area. Lunch on board, and then visit of the cocama village of San Martin de Pitirishca, discovery of their art and crafts and their agricultural techniques in this floodable area. Dinner and night on board.

 

Day 5:  Second day in the Reserve; Breakfast on board, and then guided excursion in the primary forest with a local guide, wildlife and biodiversity observation, especially of monkeys. Return back to the boat for the lunch and continuation of the navigation to the village of Bolivar for a festive night with the natives. Night on board.

 

Day 6:    Departure early in the morning and breakfast on board sailing down the Marañon River. Continuation of the cruise to reach the Grau watchtower in order to enjoy the sunset precisely where the Amazon River starts! Dinner on board and then festive night with the crew, to celebrate the last night on board.

 

Day 7:   Breakfast on board and then continuation of the cruise sailing the Amazon River down to Iquitos. Lunch on board during the navigation and arrival planned at about 2 PM. Possible visit of Iquitos, the dwelling quarter of Belen and its colorful market, where handcrafts, medicinal plants and others typical Amazonian souvenirs can be purchased. Transfer to the airport or to the hotel.

 

This cruise can be made in the other way (Iquitos-Nauta), reversing the program
