Heliconia Amazon Lodge is located on the banks of the majestic Amazon river (margin left side) in Yanamono's Communal Reserve, to 80 km away (50 miles away) from Iquitos City. Reserve that deserved the recognition to possess the most quantity of arboreal species in this part of Amazon jungle, due to the fact that it forms part of an ecosystem constituted by diverse types of environments that regionally know like "restingas", "marshes", "tahuampas", "beaches", "mires", "aguajales” that have been generated by the fluvial dynamics of white water of the Amazon river loaded with rich sediments in nutrients for what the soil is a fertile forest.
This recognition and the characteristics of Yanamono's Ecosystem commitment us to protect each portion of this jungle with daily sustainable work with the local communities.
Our Lodge surrounded by finest and exotics collection of Heliconias, valued flowers for its brilliant colors and forms, bromelias, orchids, etc. and close to islands, streams and lagoons full of wildlife offers our visitor wonderful places to rest and spend the time of exciting activities.
The trip to Heliconia Lodge takes us 1 hour with 15 minutes from Iquitos to Amazon downstream in speed boats.
FACILITIES AND ROOMS
Our friendly and environmental construction has modern facilities with high safety standards. The traditional and rustic design of our 21 guest rooms with private bathroom and hot water; restaurant, lobby bar, and the hammock room are completely protected with mosquito netting and they all are interconnected by passageways that have palm thatching roofs.
The electric generator (soundproof) is used intermittently for short periods of time, 2 hours in the morning and about 5 hours in the evening. After 10:00 p.m. and until 6:00 a.m. Heliconia Lodge is illuminated by kerosene lamps giving the lodge a magical environment.
SERVICES
Our services at Heliconia Lodge include:
• Healthy and delicious food mainly prepared with the Amazon region ingredients like Dorado or Zungaro (catfish) one of the largest fresh water fish in the world, palm’s heart (palmetto), fried or cooked bananas, diverse tropical fruits like papaya, pineapple, mango, melons, among others.
The coffee, milk, tea and other hot beverages are available without fee to our visitors. Sodas, beers, natural juice and liquors are not included in the price of our packages.
• Safety ground and river transportation in our suitable vehicles and speed boats. Our transfers are round trip from the airport to the Port, then by speed boat to Heliconia Lodge.
• Guided excursions with our expert, local bilingual guides (Spanish and English) who have been brought up knowing all the Amazon Jungle wildlife are waiting to share with our guests this knowledge in a simple but yet profound manner.
